Beginning as a master planning endeavor, this project working with Clients at Denver Mountain Parks sought to provide design inspiration for a long term planning process to update the existing mountain top park space. The initial data driven design work focused on crafting new ways to inspire increasing visitor visit time by highlighting the most prominent feature of the park, the views.
Additionally this work included crafting a clear set of principles which guided the design work.
Lookout Mountain Park - Denver Mountain Parks
Vantage Reimagined
Upon completion of the previously displayed master plan and with feedback from clients at Denver Mountain Parks, this individual project re-imagined the view possibilities of Lookout Mountain. Currently the park maintains one overlook platform facing due East yet the spectacular viewsheds north and west are neglected.
My project envisioned new viewing platform designs which a variety of new viewing experiences could be available to the parks thousands of yearly visitors. From an elevated position facing north allows for focused views of the front range and its many rolling hills and mountain peaks. Sweeping eastwards is a broad single level deck highlighting the expansiveness of the eastern plains. Following a winding and descending path the western facing lookout brings visitors down amongst the trees for a quiet and serene moment while they take in the majesty of the continental divide.
